The democratic process triumphed, but some of us are disappointed, and many of us are worried. Why? Because "more of the same" is not good enough for us. We oppose partisanship, waste, and incompetence. Yet we have now again elected a divided, partisan group, who, we fear, will still be deadlocked and unable to move ahead with even small solutions to the problems that face us.
Too much spending. Taxes. Jobs. War. Debt. Entitlements. Climate change. U.S. competitiveness. Health and quality of life. Not enough progress. Why?
Because, when we disagree as a family, we try to come to terms and take steps that help us to move forward. But when we disagree as a country, we are victimized by a system that causes pain for all of us.
It is time to stop fighting with one another and fight together for the U.S., for us. Let's do what makes sense for us.
